Today the savvy consumer has a lot of choices in the insurance business. People pride themselves on the ability to find a good deal. The television commercials are not helping. Many insist their coverage is the best, others insist they have the lowest rates. Isnt there a middle ground? Is it possible to find quality coverage at an outstanding price?
Insurance is like taxes. Your neighbor, brother or friend may have gotten a great company at a great price, but is this going to work for you? If your situations are the same in every respect, then you can reasonably rest assured you can get the same rate and the same reliability.
If your brother has been accident free for 20 years and you cannot seem to avoid a collision every year, then your situations are not the same and you can expect to pay more for the same coverage.
When you purchase insurance, the insurance company is betting you will not have an accident but you are betting that you will. You have several options available when searching for the perfect insurance coverage at the best price. My suggestion is to begin by searching online for a company that offers quotes from several insurance companies.
Take 15 minutes to fill out the form and get the quotes they offer. Print them out if you can so you have a comparison. Then go to the individual sites of other companies and get quotes from them. You can purchase insurance directly from most of these companies online, but hold on before hitting the Buy Now!! button.
Other areas you need to check are reliability, type of coverage you need and payment policy. You can check the reliability of the company by asking repair shops which companies pay the best. Some insurance companies are insisting the repair shops use second hand parts to repair their vehicles. You want a company only willing to repair your auto with original manufacturers parts.
Next check the type of coverage you need. Check what is required by your state first and then see how much you need. If you can afford it, do not go with a high deductible as this is money that must be paid upfront to repair your car and any others you may have to pay to repair.
Finally, check the payment policy of the company. How do they handle late payments? How long is the grace period before insurance is canceled?
If the same company with the lowest price gets good marks for the rest of these questions, you have found your good deal. Sorting through the good companies just got a little easier.
